News On Microsoft Supported Versions Of Internet Explorer And Windows

As of 12 Jan 2016, Microsoft will only support the latest version of Internet Explorer (IE) available for the supported versions of Windows. The supported versions of Windows are the versions of Windows that have not reached the end of Extended Support. As of 12 Jan 2016, Windows 8 has reached the end of Extended Support as being superseded by Windows 8.1 Update. The supported versions of IE on the supported versions of Windows:

For developers that only need/want to support the versions of IE for Windows that Microsoft supports, as of 12 Apr 2016 you only have to support IE9.0 (Windows Vista SP2/Windows Server 2008 SP2), IE10.0 (Windows Server 2012), IE11.0 (Windows 7 SP1/Windows 8.1 Update/Windows 10/Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1/Windows Server 2012 R2), and Edge (Windows 10).
